Odawa Quill Work: Demonstrations & Art Sales at the Blackbird Museum
Join us for a special cultural event at the Andrew J. Blackbird Museum, where you’ll have the unique opportunity to meet and learn from multiple generations of accomplished Odawa artists: Yvonne Walker Keshick, Odeimin Gèsis Walker Keshick, and Jacob L. Keshick. These renowned quill work artisans will be offering live demonstrations of their intricate, centuries-old craft from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on site.
Throughout the day, visitors can observe the artists’ techniques, ask questions about their materials and traditions, and gain a deeper appreciation for the cultural significance of quill art within the Odawa community. In addition to demonstrations, a selection of finished works will be available for purchase — a perfect opportunity to support Native artists and bring home a one-of-a-kind piece of Anishinaabe artistry.
Come celebrate and preserve Indigenous heritage with us through this immersive and educational experience. No registrations needed, these are drop-in demonstrations. Be sure to also visit the new traveling exhibit on Anishnabe quill work across the street at the Harbor Springs History Museum.
