Fishing for History: The Oden State Fish Hatchery
The Oden State Fish Hatchery has been in operation since 1921 and has reared brook trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, Arctic grayling and coho salmon. Fully rebuilt in 2002, the Oden facility is the most recently modernized hatchery in Michigan. This historical talk will cover the efforts and challenges state hatcheries have faced bith in the past and today with presenter Christine Steensma.
Steensma is a Park Interpreter at the Visitor Center at Oden State Fish Hatchery in Alanson. She works for the DNR Marketing and Outreach Division in the education service section providing tours and programing for students and visitors.
