Historic Gardens of Michilimackinac
Thursday, Sep 16, 2021
5:30pm – 6:30pm
In collaboration with the Harbor Springs Garden Club, the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society is pleased to welcome LeeAnn Ewer to our History Talk series on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 5:30 pm. LeeAnn is currently the Interpretive Assistant with Mackinac State Historic Parks and has been with MSHP since 2007. During her time with MSHP, LeeAnn has worked extensively to recreate the historic gardens at Colonial Michilimackinac in Mackinac City.
From 1715-1781 Michilimackinac was best known as a fort and fur trading center. Archaeology, trading records, along with many other sources have all contributed to the reconstruction of this 18th century village. LeeAnn’s program will present a brief history of the site, as well as her work in recreating and maintaining the historic gardens that were a part of everyday life at the Straits of Mackinac.
Registration is strongly encouraged as our talks often sell out. Talks are $10 per person.
The lecture begins at 5:30 pm at the Harbor Springs History Museum, 349 E Main Street, Harbor Springs. Cookies and coffee will be served.
