Blessing of the Fleet

Thursday, June 27, 2019 06:00pm - 10:00pm

Celebrate the start of another summer season at the Historical Society’s Blessing of the Fleet event on June 26-27.

The event kicks off with a visit from the Utopia, a 77’ staysail schooner, designed by the late Fred J. Peterson and built in 1946. Utopia began its maiden sea voyage in 1947 when she cruised the North Atlantic, Mediterranean Sea and Caribbean Islands. The Historical Society is thrilled to welcome this floating piece of history to Harbor Springs. Utopia will be docked at the city marina and open for free, public tours on Wednesday and Thursday, June 26 and 27 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

On June 27 at 6:00 pm all types of watercraft are welcome to join in our traditional Blessing of the Fleet boat parade. Parade participants are encouraged to register with the Historical Society and will receive radio channel and course information prior to the parade. No boat? No problem! Spectators are welcome to watch the parade from the city dock or along Harbor Springs historic waterfront.

Immediately following the boat parade, at 7:00 pm, join us for a fundraising party at the Walstrom Marine Showroom (500 E Bay Street) featuring a strolling supper, local beers and wines, cocktails, music, a silent auction and more. Tickets for the party are $100/person until 3:00 pm on June 27. $125 at the door. Valet parking is available. All proceeds support the Historical Society’s vision of ensuring Harbor Springs area traditions live on.
