Harbor History Talk - "Pure Little Traverse Bay" Print
Thursday, July 19 2012, 5:00pm - 7:00pm

The Historical Society is pleased to welcome Michael Federspiel and his program “Pure Little Traverse Bay.” One hundred years before the current Pure Michigan promotional campaign, railroad and steamship companies teamed with local entrepreneurs to successfully market the Little Traverse Bay region to tourists and settlers alike.  Using historic images and publications, Pure Little Traverse Bay explores the methods and successes and the long term impact this promotion had on the region's economy and way of life.

Michael Federspiel is the author of the award winning book Picturing Hemingway's Michigan and the forthcoming, Little Traverse Bay: Past and Present.  He also serves as the Michigan Hemingway Society's president and is the newly appointed Executive Director of the Little Traverse Historical Society.

Please join us at 5:00 pm for refreshments. The program will begin at 5:30 pm in the second-floor Anton Library at the Harbor Springs History Museum, 349 E Main Street. Admission is $5 per person and free to current Historical Society members. Reservations are suggested by calling (231) 526-9771.

Location: Harbor Springs History Museum
