Shay Days 2012 Print

The Harbor Springs Area Historical Society is pleased to once again present Shay Days, a celebration of inventor Ephraim Shay and his contributions to our community. Shay Days was presented annually by the Historical Society through 2008.

This year’s event will take place Friday and Saturday, July 20-21, 10 am to 3 pm each day, and will feature familiar activities as well as new programs for the whole family.

Friday's activities:

  • 10:00 am - Walking your of the Shay railroad grade
  • Presentations upstairs at the museum
  • 10:30 am - Yvonne W. Keshick, Hiawatha Pageant
  • 12:00 pm - Duane Fahey, Ephraim Shay/Civil War
  • 1:30 pm - Charlie Conn, Emmet Country Railroads

Activities both Friday and Saturday (10am-3pm) include:

  • Live steam trains at Shay Park
  • Electric train layouts and more with Bill Davis in the Shay Hexagon House
  • Docent-led tours of the Shay Hexagon House
  • Family scavenger hunt

 

Shay Days admission is FREE for children and a suggested $5 donation for adults. One ticket is good for both days!

Museum Hours:
Fridays, 11 am-3 pm
Saturdays, 11 am-3 pm

Regular business hours:
Tue-Fri, 9 am-5 pm.
