About the Historical Society The Harbor Springs Area Historical Society was founded in 1990 by a group of concerned citizens committed to preserving the history of the Harbor Springs area. Soon after its founding, HSAHS achieved 501(c)3 status as a charitable and educational non-profit organization.
Throughout its history, HSAHS has placed a high priority on protecting our past and maintaining a legacy for future generations. We believe that conserving our history has become even more important as the area continues to experience rapid growth and change. This commitment continues today with the opening of the Harbor Springs History Museum in the former city hall building. The museum will not only house exhibits and historical society offices, it will house the collective memories of this community for generations to come.
